《Heading Vectors》 presents Daebie Kim’s new body of work, centered around bird motifs to explore human existence and freedom. Drawing on traditional compositions and genres found in art history, the artist visualizes the emergence, dissolution, and boundaries of being through symbolic imagery such as holes, doors, and passageways. The works simultaneously depict organic forms derived from nature alongside artificial structures, illustrating the directional forces shared by humans and birds, while evoking states of confinement and liberation.

A recurring circular void or portal motif appears in many of Daebie's works. In the piece featuring flower-like eyes densely arranged, the circular center suggests a threshold where being and non-being intersect. This void motif, which draws the viewer's gaze toward an unknown realm, recurs across multiple works and serves as a focal point. However, in these new paintings, the directionality of the figures within the composition aligns with the gaze. The surrounding forms oscillate between organic and abstract qualities, shifting between life and inanimate states.
